Mazda Turbo (Turbocharger) and Engine Problems

According to the calls coming in, Mazda CX 7 and CX 9 drivers appear to be having turbo (turbocharger) and engine problems, and to make matters even worse, the manufacturer is trying to point the finger back at the consumer.

Our clients have experienced a number of Mazda engine problems, including illuminated engine warning lights, oil burning, excessive smoke from the tailpipe and/or a foul odor (especially during a cold start). Many are having repeat failures with their Mazda turbocharger being replaced numerous times. Others are reporting oil consumption problems and severe engine noise.

Even when under warranty, Mazda dealers are asking consumers to present all oil change and service receipts prior to service to confirm they are maintaining the vehicle according to warranty prior to fixing any Mazda turbocharger problem. Failure to produce proof of service could result in Mazda denying warranty coverage. We are also seeing Mazda dealers fail to properly include the customer’s complaints on the repair orders in an attempt to “cover up” the turbocharger issue. As we have reported before, every time you take your car in for repair, it is essential that you receive a repair invoice which outlines the problem and the dealer’s fix. Keep these invoices in a safe place, along with oil change and service receipts. You never know when you are going to need to provide proof of service.
