Jeep Cherokee Transmission Troubles Continue

October 27, 2016
By: Robert Silverman

You are out on the highway ready to make a turn, perhaps stopped at a light.  Cars are moving toward you and yet you can not speed up.  Instead you are shuddering and stuttering due to a troublesome transmission.

That is what happened to Jeep Cherokee owners Heidi and Marty Jones of Chicago in a story they shared with their local NBC affiliate. And it also has happened to many other 2014 and 2015 Jeep Cherokee drivers. We have previously written about this issue, and also worked on several other stories surrounding the problems with the Cherokee nine-speed transmission, including one with Paul Van Osdol of Pittsburgh’s WTAE TV.

While the NBC affiliate in Chicago has uncovered close to 500 comparable complaints, 1 800 LEMON LAW  has successfully handled a hundreds of these claims as well.  And while FCA lawyers told the NBC reporter that they have previously prevailed in two trials regarding this issue ( neither of which client was represented by our firm), they fail to say we have succeeded in recovering repurchases and replacements for a significant number of our clients who have encountered this issue.

If you are experiencing issues with your Jeep Cherokee transmission, you must continue to bring it to the manufacturer’s attention regularly, even after updates and flashes are performed.  It is imperative to your case that you continue to document the problems and solutions that are performed to address the situation.  If the Cherokee continues to stall and shudder, we also recommend having passengers use their cell phones to videotape the situation, and we encourage consumers to ask their service advisers on test drives to confirm and verify the defect.  The more instances you can prove that you are experiencing the issue, the better your chances for a large recovery.

If you are experiencing repetitive issues with your shuttering or stalling in your Jeep Cherokee, feel free to contact us to discuss your situation and see if/how we can help.
