Ford Recalls 202,000 Vehicles To Fix Transmission Problem
Ford is recalling 202,000 cars, trucks, and SUVs in the United States and North America. Why? The American automobile manufacturer seeks to fix a serious transmission problem that has already resulted in several crashes. Read on to learn about your legal rights in addition to the recall.
CNBC reports that Ford is recalling 202,000 F-150 pickup trucks, SUVs, and cars in North America to fix an automatic transmission problem that may cause the vehicle to suddenly downshift to first gear. This recall extends to 2011-2012 F-150 trucks, as well as 2012 Expedition, Mustang, and Lincoln Navigator vehicles.
According to ford, a software problem in a speed sensor may force the afflicted vehicles into a downshift. The issue has already resulted in three crashes (fortunately, with no serious injuries).
This news comes to us in the wake of Wednesday’s announcement that Ford will be recalling no less than 81,000 Explorer SUVs in order to fix a rear suspension problem. The suspension recall applies to 2014-2015 Explorer SUV and Police Interceptor models sold in North America – specifically the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
Ford has stated that the suspension issue, separate from the aforementioned transmission problem, has already resulted in one crash and injury.
While the manufacturer – in this instance, Ford – will attempt to repair the problem in the case of a recall, it may not always be fixed the first time around. In fact, you yourself may have already been to the shop multiple times to repair these issues.

Me and a friend both own Range Rover Evoques (automatic transmissions). The accounts i’m reading about here re:transmission issues sound like a frequent conversation we have when comparing our vehicle. I wonder if they should look deeper into what Ford-related vehicles are affected…

I have a new 2019 Ford Escape Titanium. With 800 miles on it I had to be towed. It felt and sounded like I had been hit from the rear. The message on the screen said Powertrain malfunction/reduced power. Service manager called and said they are putting a new transmission in it. Will I feel safe knowing it is a new transmission or will I always feel unsure about it? Have there been other Ford Escapes with this same issue?

We bought our pre-owned 2013 Ford Focus from a Ford dealership. They neglected to tell me that there was a known transmission problem with Focus in general. They just said there is a recall and we will fix it before we deliver the car. It was not fixed. Now, they want to repair it at my expense since it is past the expiration of the extended warranty. While it was under warranty, they neglected to fix the known problem.
