Ford Focus Transmission Problem Has Ford Focusing On Solution

Throughout the past few weeks, we have been receiving a number of calls on the 1-800-LEMON-LAW hotline from distressed drivers regarding 2012 Ford Focus transmission problems. 2012 Ford Focus lemon law cases are on the rise.

We have heard from several folks who are having their Ford Focus roll backwards on hills after they came to a stop. Others are seeing shuddering and vibration between gears and hesitation when shifting. After researching the issue, we see that many Ford Focus drivers are focusing on the transmission troubles and what can be done to fix the situation.

The rolling backwards is being blamed on the Ford Focus 6-speed dual clutch transmission which does not have a torque converter. This is supposedly designed to be effective when it comes to fuel mileage, but it has a negative effect regarding this rollback mechanism.

The drag of a torque converter would normally prevent a car from rolling backwards. Ford has attempted to solve the problem through a power control module reboot, however at least one Ford Focus driver complained that this made his problem worse. Another driver said his dealer has been consistently replacing solenoids in his Ford Focus to no avail.

If your Ford Focus is rolling backwards when stopped on inclines, or if you are having hesitation issues when getting your Ford Focus transmission in gear, you need to get to your Ford-authorized dealership as soon as possible to see if they can find a fix. And if you find that the fixes are ineffective, it’s time to look into your Lemon Law rights. After all, it’s only after you have successfully dealt with your problems that you will be able to “focus” on the road.
